Napa Design Partners, as the Architect of Record, provided architecture and interior design services and led the design team through the planning and entitlement phases, as well as the construction documents, permitting, bidding, and construction phases. The design team provided ongoing coordination with the construction management team (owner’s representative) and the general contractor throughout the duration of the project. The site was donated by the City of American Canyon and is located directly adjacent to a community park and next to a neighborhood school site.

The planned 15,000 s.f. facility included support spaces such as offices, toilet rooms, janitorial, IT rooms, and a commercial kitchen, along with the usual classroom areas. Classrooms facing the park incorporated large operable glass wall systems, allowing the adjacent outdoor patio areas to function as extensions of the indoor learning environment. Additional classrooms for toddlers and computer instruction were self‑contained and/or secured, with direct staff monitoring. The toddler classroom also included a separate secured outdoor play area.

In response to the property gift, the Boys & Girls Club incorporated a large open community room designed to accommodate up to 150 occupants for special events, trainings, and assemblies. This space can also function as an auditorium for children participating in Boys & Girls Club programs or as a gathering area during inclement weather. The community room is available for use by the City and local non‑profits and has its own dedicated entry and exits, allowing it to be secured from the Club’s daily operations.

The construction cost of approximately $4.0 million was kept low due to significant community support, with many contributors donating or providing services at cost. Napa Design Partners donated its services for the design, planning, and entitlement phases and provided discounted fees for the construction document phase.
