Year 2018
Napa Design Partners began assessing the condition of this nationally registered historic building just before the 2014 South Napa Earthquake struck. Our initial evaluation was immediately redirected as we documented and analyzed the extensive damage, which included exterior and interior URM failures, lateral structural deficiencies, and significant interior and moderate exterior finish damage.
As the Architect of Record, NDP has completed all facets of the project to date—from evaluation and assessment through coordination with SHPO, preparation of construction documents and reports for seismic upgrades and repairs, and the rehabilitation and replacement of interior and exterior infrastructure. All restoration work was completed in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. Our team also provided full design and construction documents for tenant improvements.
Infrastructure upgrades included entirely new electrical service with a dedicated utility room, new water service, and a new sewer lateral with grease interceptor installed in the existing basement to support a future restaurant or food‑and‑beverage tenant. NDP recently completed the second‑floor tenant improvements, with the new tenant beginning occupancy at the end of 2025.
Napa Design Partners also managed and prepared all documentation required for the Department of the Interior’s Historic Preservation approval process and received formal approval from the Keeper upon completion of the building’s repair and restoration in 2023.
