Historic Napa Mill is a multi‑phased redevelopment project involving the restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse of a former industrial milling complex. The late Harry T. Price served as owner and developer, and Stephen Cuddy of Napa Design Partners maintained a long professional partnership with him from 1985 to 2019.
The historic buildings now house portions of the Napa River Inn hotel, two full‑service restaurants, a bakery, a candy store, a nightclub/bar, and the General Store, which features dining, wine tasting, and Napa‑focused retail. Napa Design Partners served as the architect for all architectural preservation work as well as the National Register application and approval process.
Two new buildings were constructed as part of the hotel expansion, and a third building—approved by the City of Napa—remains unbuilt. The overall project required extensive coordination, including City of Napa planning approvals, environmental management with the State of California to remediate existing toxic materials, and design and construction of the Napa Riverfront and Riverwalk as part of the countywide flood control project. Napa Design Partners also led the permitting process for all associated improvements.
Stephen Cuddy is the Architect of Record for all completed components, including the historic and new buildings, the Main Street art entrance archway, the public plaza spaces along the riverfront, and multiple tenant improvements. The firm has designed and delivered interior improvements for the Napa River Inn, restaurants, retail shops, and the Silos entertainment venue.
Napa Design Partners’ services have included architectural and interior design, historic documentation for National Register status, preparation of construction documents (PSE), and construction‑phase assistance throughout the life of the project.
NDP continues to support the property today as ownership plans future revitalization efforts. The most recent major upgrade was the complete reconstruction of the former Silos Night Club—now The Fink. The next planned improvement is the renovation of the General Store in 2026.
