Project Scope

Napa Design Partners served as the Architect of Record for a 30,000‑square‑foot Youth Center addition and campus improvement project at The Father’s House in Vacaville, California. The expansion was developed to support the church’s growing community by creating a modern, flexible environment for youth programs, worship services, and large gatherings. The project team included Equip Studio for liturgical Interior design; Laugenour and Meikle for civil engineering and surveying; ZFA Structural Engineers; ColeBreit for mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire systems; Salas O’Brien for acoustics; AMT for audio‑visual integration; and Studio 1515 for landscape architecture, resulting in a coordinated and integrated design effort.

The new steel‑framed building features a multi‑purpose auditorium with a performance stage and full back‑of‑house support areas, enabling a wide range of events and productions. Two large fellowship and meeting rooms accommodate groups of up to 100 people, while food and beverage service areas support hospitality and community engagement. A spacious lobby connects the new facility to the existing campus, creating a seamless transition between buildings. Additional elements include a covered outdoor entry, weather‑protected gathering areas, a large open lawn space for outdoor events, and a dedicated outdoor play area designed for youth activities and safety.

Supporting spaces such as multiple restrooms, privacy rooms, janitorial and storage areas, and operational facilities were incorporated to meet the needs of guests, performers, staff, and volunteers. Napa Design Partners guided the project through full programming, conceptual design, and entitlement review with the City of Vacaville before developing a complete set of construction documents for bidding and construction.

Throughout the design process, Napa Design Partners collaborated closely with the client and their leadership team to explore a wide range of design options. These studies helped refine the architectural character, interior layout, and functional relationships while ensuring alignment with the client’s vision and compliance with local building, fire, and environmental health codes. The project required coordination with multiple agencies—including the City’s Planning and Building Departments, Environmental Health, and the Fire Department—to support a smooth approval process and maintain regulatory compliance.

As the design progressed, the project underwent detailed cost evaluation and value‑engineering reviews to align the scope with the client’s construction budget. This process highlighted the importance of early collaboration with Descor Builders, allowing the team to address constructability considerations and cost impacts well before the traditional construction phase. This integrated approach supported informed decision‑making and helped maintain continuity between the design intent, regulatory requirements, and the client’s overall goals.

These combined efforts—client collaboration, multi‑agency coordination, and early partnership with Descor Builders—contributed to the project receiving the 2025 North Bay Business Journal Award for Excellence in Construction, recognizing the successful delivery of this significant community facility.
